Ring Distave – Ash

$35.00

A ring distaff is an extremely useful tool for spindle and wheel spinning. It keeps the fibre in order and allows for easy and controlled drafting. It may seem small, but the ring distaff actually holds a significant amount of fibre. The ring distaff may be dressed in different ways to accommodate either worsted or woollen spinning.

Description

A Handy tool no spinner should be without, Ring Distave

These tools are typically turned from local Big Leaf Maple because it is durable but also a little lighter than other hardwoods. Sometimes I use black walnut, ash, oak or other hardwoods simply for the sake of appearance.

About Ed Pretty

I am a professional woodturner, specializing in gallery work, commercial work, teaching and demonstrating. I have been turning since 1958, so... a long time. I use this site to present my work to the public at large and to let people know that I am available for teaching private lessons in woodturning. Wood turning is one of my passions (the other is motorcycle touring). It is my desire to pass on everything that I have learned over the years to others so that the craft of woodturning will grow.
